Me and Kaitlyn met at the nature center at East Harbor State Park. We watched a monarch caterpillar that was J-shaped at the top of a cage. First we waited a long time.
Then it started peeling its skin off. The skin came off from a crack in its head. It wiggled and waggled. Underneath the skin was a pupa. It was green and as long as a worm but fatter. The caterpillar skin shrinked up and then it fell off. The pupa was fully made.
Later that evening we saw its chrysalis.
I really like the nature center. I learned that when dragonflies are made, the larva eats baby mosquitoes. They shed their skin and then they come out as a grown up dragonfly.
